BIOGRAPHY

I was born in South Korea and immigrated 33 years ago to Canada after graduating from University.  My real  hard  life begins in Canada.

For the last 15 years,  I have enjoyed hiking in the North shore, Whistler area, the Fraser Valley, greater Vancouver area, Alaska, and interior British Columbia.

Alberta.

I cannot hike the very high mountains as I did in the past.  However, the excitement of hiking is still fresh in my mind.  I use my memory and photographs to write about and to paint this world.

I especially love to use the medium of oil to represent what I have seen and feel.

I began painting at a young age when I was still in  school in South Korea.  The art teacher at that time selected a few students for special instruction and school competitions, During that time, I especially enjoyed landscape scenery painting.  Even though that was long ago, and I did not pursue painting continuously,  recently I have been able to return to my childhood passion.

This has been driven by my respect and awe for beautiful mother nature.  Through my painting, I try again and again to reflect nature.  I feel my soul dancing as I try to express the beauty of British Columbia.

I am very fortunate that I live in Canada and especially British Columbia.  I believe that we are all lucky to experience this beautiful nature and wish that everyone could experience the high mountains that take long hours of hiking, smell the alpine flowers, touch the soft snow, feel the nice breeze, see the blue sky, mist on the land, sunshine on the pink lake, old growth forest and respect the wildlife.

I am especially thankful to the Surrey Art office for their facilitation of this hikers world show.

Lastly, I am grateful to my husband Sun Pyong Lee who has been my greatest supporter and to my daughter Louise and my son David.
